WORKING TO BRIGHTEN UP MY LIFE...and I "LOVE IT"!!!
I'm trying to BRIGHTEN UP this room a bit & take out the red & add greens & blues, so I gave my "Live, Laugh, Love" sign a makeover with a quick coat of spray paint, some green craft paint & a new vinyl saying, that was a little more personalized for our fam...
PS. I have a secret!
I was OUT of white vinyl, but had an entire roll of WHITE CONTACT PAPER & decided to see if I could cut it with my cricut & if it would transfer properly???
It worked PERFECT & is muchhhhh cheaper than vinyl!

I think I will be using it more often. I don't know about durability? But I think contact paper is pretty durable, so I don't see it being a problem...especially since this sign is hanging INDOORS.

Has anyone used contact paper before as "vinyl"???
Is this a common thing already going on, that I just didn't know about??
PSS.
Just googled "patterned contact paper" for fun and check out THIS cute find for only $6.57 for 8 yards at Amazon! Oh & THIS one! I can't wait to search around some more & experiment with it!!!
Am I the last to know about patterned contact paper & the ability to cut it like vinyl? Or is this news to you too!?!
it's news to me... but since I have a few rolls of contact paper I might just have to pull out my Cricut and give it a try... what to cut, what to cut...?
ReplyDeleteI use (hideous) contact paper (on clearance) for stencils and yes, I have used an entire roll of white. (silhouette) I cut the whole roll down the middle so I actually got two rolls out of it.
ReplyDeleteI also use clear contact paper as transfer paper. LOVE it!
I did buy one roll of tan/cream contact paper that did NOT work at all. I wasn't even able to use it as transfer.
I'm glad you discovered this cheap alternative.

oh stace i need you here and i need your creative brain. i am trying to change the colors in my front room too. i just don't have ideas like you do. oh- iwas thinking that i was going to try to teach myself to sew. is that totally crazy?? not to sew anything fancy, but i thought if i learn how to sew, i can sew some pillow case covers for the pillows on my couch instead of buying to new pillows. do you have any suggestions on a good first-time sewing maching?
ReplyDeleteHe he, I couldn't tell you I don't have a cricut, BUT I have seen several tutorials on cutting contact paper out and creating shapes, and decorating with it. So I guess it clearly should work fine. Besides the proof is in the pudding girl, Your sign looks GREAT, and WOO HOO on the price, lol. I'm so there with ya, IF i EVER get a cricut!!
ReplyDeletep.s. If you get a chance I'm inviting you over to my blog, I'm kinda having a HUGE giveaway going on, and you MIGHT like it, (or LOVE it). I'd be so happy to have your support!
