I saw a couple BIG WOODEN CIRCLES on the Free section of Craigslist the other day
& quickly called my little brother to go and pick them up for me in his truck.
I thought they would make AWESOME clocks!!!
They are the ends of a big cable spool, sort of like this(without the middle section...it is just the circles)...
They WOULD make unique clocks...
IF they didn't weigh a million pounds each!
Seriously, they are SOOOOO HEAVY,
there is no way in the world I could hang one on a wall!
I saw this ADORABLE idea at Design Sponge, to turn it into a table...
But it would not be a cute kid's table like that one, because they are SO HUGE.
I'm thinking maybe a big "Picnic Table" for our Family Ranch.

My husband is thinking they need to be firewood.
Any other ideas on what I could do with them???

Well, you wouldn't really be turning them into something, but I think they'd look totally cool as an accent piece in a garden or outdoor space. Maybe?
I think they'd be so cute painted a high gloss bright color and then tile the top for a cute outdoor table. What about putting outdoor white lights in the center hole (if it's big enough) and top with a glass top? What about painting and adding a stone or ceramic birdbath bowl on top? You could cement large, golf-ball sized stones around the birdbath to give it that 'natural' look.
I like the tables for the ranch idea!
My grandparents totally have one of those as a picnic table at their cabin in Show Low. Love it! Fond memories 'round that table. ;)
I too like the table idea. The whole in the center would be perfect for an umbrella or an old-fashioned lazy susan.Or if it's big enough you can do an upside down lazy susan and the kids can sit on it while it spins around. Good luck and I'm excited to see what you make of them! :)
Thats what the old spools up at the Ranch were originally used for, tables in the cinder pit.
This is so crazy because someone just gave me a TON of these...some of them are gigantic table size...I will use them oddly enough as tables. Some of them are about 12 inches in diameter and are kinda "squaty" but not heavy. I need to do something with them. Right now they are stacked up...they kind of look like shelves. I might make a few of them shelves. Who knows! =)
We used these as outside tables when I was growing up! Park your lawn chairs around them and it's dinnertime!
My neighbor worked at a factory where the electrical cable came on these big spools - and he would bring them to us every so often. I miss the "spool tables".
I love your site & all of the stuff you've done. I'm a new follower. :)
My friend covered the top of one in astro-turf and left the whole in the middle. He used it as a table, but also as a mini putting green (he had pencils shaped like golf clubs and some pingpong balls).
Thankk you for sharing this
