The ANTS go marching...

Last week at an Enrichment Night we had a "Picnic Dinner" & the tables were decorated SO CUTE...with red gingham tablecloths & these ADORABLE ants "crawling" around.

There were even some crawling up a picnic basket, that served as a centerpiece. I took a closer look at these ANTS & KNEW I had to make some!I wish I took a picture of them! I'm wasn't really sure WHAT I was going to do with them, but I knew I need them!:)

I could picture an adorable SUMMER WATERMELON hanging on my front door, with these cute ANTS crawling up the watermelon! I decided to take the supplies up to the cabin last week & my sister & I made a few. I left one on the shelf at the cabin, just because he was CUTE:)

Now...
for a little "How To" for YOU!!!
(cuz...if you are like me, you will make them for no reason at all, other than because they are CUTE!)

Gather Supplies:
Hot Glue Gun
Jingle Bells
Wire
Spray Paint
Take 3 bells & cut 3 pieces of wire for legs...
Now stick the wire straight through bell, with "X side" up...
Bend wires down...
and then bend the ends to give him some "feet" on his legs & add a dot of hot glue to hold them in place...
Repeat with other 2 wires & glue 2 bells together.
Notice one bell has 2 wires through it & 1 bell just has one...for a total of 6 legs...
Glue the 3rd bell to the "body" with "X-side" down...
Bend some "antennae" and glue to "head" with little dots of hot glue, to make "eyes"...
Take your little ANT-y outdoors & give him a coat of black paint...

and your little guy will be smiling up at you in no time...
(with a smudged antennae, because you picked him up when he was still wet. :-)
And before you know it, you will have made a whole army of ants...
I don't know why I think they are so ADORABLE...but I do!

Also not sure why mine are all boys, but they are ;)

These are too cute! I have been wanting to make a summer wreath with red and white gingham and then add some ants to it. I couldn't think of what to use for the ants, and these will work great! Thanks for the great idea!
