My sis-in-law, Whitney, is a GENIUS!

She made this STINKIN' ADORABLE Jewelry board from an old frame & pegboard...

and then attached some darling knobs from Hobby Lobby...

Check out those black loops at the top...

they are just ribbon tied through the holes, which make a perfect spot to hang your earrings!

With jewelry hanging on it, it is like a piece of ART...I LOVE IT!

Custom Necklaces

Through the heart wrenching experience of watching my sister-in-law Heidi, deliver a stillborn baby last week...I wished SO BADLY that I could take some pain away. 

I felt totally, completely, 100% helpless.

I couldn't do ANYTHING to make it better.

It was hard to feel like there was nothing I could do.
While I knew there was nothing I could do to ease the pain, I tried to think of something I could to for her that would help remind her that she would see sweet Mason again someday.

I contacted my friend Amy. 

She makes BEAUTIFUL necklaces & the quality is exceptional!

On one side I asked her to put a picture of Mason & on the other side, "Families are Forever"

She made them for Heidi and the grandmas and Heidi's little 3 yr old daughter.

I didn't take a picture, but they looked similar to these from her Etsy site...

Ric Rac Rosettes

My brother-in-law just returned home from a mission in Brazil last week & brought his sisters these adorable rosette necklaces...

I instantly fell in love!

With a closer look, we discovered the rosettes were made of ric rac!

SO CUTE!

I had to make one for myself, so I went to the store and bought the colors that were on Clearance
(because I'm cheap)

pulled out some thread & some beads that I found for 99 cents on Clearance at Walmart...

and started rolling the ric rac...
see how they EASILY make an adorable rosette?

I doubled my thread and cut it a bit larger than the size I wanted my necklace. I didn't do a clasp of any sort, so I just made sure it would go over my head after I knotted the thread at the end. I started by  adding beads & then rolled my first rosette, stuck my needle through(before cutting off the excess), then cut off the end of ric rac & added a few more beads...

and then repeated the ric rac rosette in a new color...

and now I have my own necklace & I think I have begun a ric rac obsession!

This was my 1st one I completed & I have already made 2 others in different colors, using a variety of bead colors/shapes and patterns.

A few tips if you are going to try one...

-You might want to get some fray check, the ends of mine are starting to fray.

-you might want to add a little glue as you roll your ric rac. I didn't, but if you don't, just make SURE your needle goes through the center of your ric rac, so it doesn't unravel at all.

Charm Bracelet Tutorial

I made my mother-in-law a charm bracelet for Mother's Day & here is a little HOW TO...

I could NOT find an actual charm bracelet ANYWHERE where you can just stick the photos in. I know I have seen them before, but no luck this year. 

So I went to Hobby Lobby & looked around their jewelry section and found a silver bracelet & then found some circle charms, that I figured I could put a picture in...

I made sure to buy a bracelet, that I could easily attach charms to & then I attached using little silver jump rings...

Once attached, I just found the pictures I wanted to use, cropped them so it was just the head & pasted them in Microsoft Word. Then I made them small. I first printed ONE in 3 different sizes. Then when I knew which size worked, I inserted on the pictures & made them all the same size as the one that worked.

NOW...I KNOW some of you are laughing. I'm SURE there is an EASY way to do this in photoshop, but I'm not very good on the computer, but I can handle WORD & that is about it!

Once they were printed, I traced a circle around the heads & cut out with scissors. Then I glued the pictures inside the charms & coated with a layer of Mod Podge, to seal the picture inside.

I attached a couple of extras, so that as she gets more grandkids, more kids can be added & it was an EASY, THOUGHTFUL gift!!!

Mother's Day (or Teacher) Gift Ideas

I hope all of the WOMEN out there...had a HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!!

My amazing sis-in-law, Heidi, made this DARLING flower pot with her kids for me...

I thought it was so sweet! Filled with yummy candy & handpainted by my niece & nephew:)

Another fun idea...

My sister Kylie bought a big candy jar for her mother-in-law & had me print some vinyl for it that said,
"Grandma Ann's Sweet Treats" & then she planned to fill it with suckers/candy to have at Grandma's house!

So cute & easy!

For my mother-in-law, I made a charm bracelet, where I put pictures of the grandkids in little circle charms...

I just sized my pictures down in Word & printed them on my computer. So, they aren't super clear, but it was easy to do! I found the bracelet & the charms at Hobby Lobby and then attached them with some jump rings.

I had to find something different for my mom, because she has 9 grandchildren and they were out of charms:)

So I found a necklace chain & this picture holder at Hobby Lobby & printed a small picture of the 9 grandkids to go inside...

and on the back printed "There is no place like home...except Grandma's!"

Hope you can use a couple of these ideas in the future!

Clam's Nest Necklace

Yesterday I saw this necklace HERE

I fell in love with it.
I don't know what it was about it, but I wanted one.
I decided to see what I could do with what I had(even though I have NEVER made a piece of jewelry before)...

I found a chain that had a star charm on it, so I took it off.
Found some wire...twisted it around a bunch.
Grabbed 3 pearls from a broken necklace in a stash of beads I got when my Grandma passed away.

And made myself one...

I don't love it as much as Geek Details. I LOVE the way she twisted hers & my pearls are very plastic looking(cuz they are)
BUT I still like it & can't wait to wear it:)

Don't know how I missed this YouTube tutorial they posted on it, but I did & it would have been helpful! I just wrapped mine in circles a bunch of times & then hot glued the beads in the center. If you take a shot at this, watch the tutorial 1st for sure!
