Dresser to TV Stand Tutorial

So...I ran into this beauty at Savers for $15 & decided that even though it was pretty ugly...I could make it pretty...

I sanded her down...

and with a jig saw...cut off the two dividers on the "top shelf" of the dresser. Then I had a piece of wood cut to match the dimension and laid it down to create a smooth open shelf, instead of the 3 top drawers. I also put a piece of beadboard in the back...but this wasn't necessary, as you can't see the back in the finished project. Oops.

I primed the entire dresser and here you can see my wood "shelf" sitting on top...

I applied wood glue and then clamped it for a good 24 hours until I thought it was secure...

I put my freshly painted doors back in & bought some cheap white knobs at Hobby Lobby! Notice that they were the "handle" knobs, but I couldn't find any that I liked, so I just put 2 single knobs in each drawer and I think it turned out great!

And my TV is much happier sitting on a pretty piece of furniture! I didn't even notice the curves at the bottom of the dresser until it was painted & I love them. The top shelf provides a perfect spot for our DVD Player and Tivo and a spot for a woven basket in the middle...

and those dresser drawers provide storage for ALL our movies!!!

Organization

This summer has been FUN...

and LAZY.

It was my break from teaching preschool and I took that break seriously,

very seriously.

Like, I never did housework...unless it was absolutely necessary.

Which was usually a result from my husband having 1 clean clothing article in the entire house:)

After 3 months, our playroom, which is also my preschool room...

was in need of some help, before school starts back up!

So...we DUMPED 

&

sorted

&

sanitized

& 

threw away...

&

labeled!

I found these bins after Christmas this past year on Clearance at Walmart

(they were "Christmas Light Tubs" & they fit PERFECTLY in my Ikea Expedit Bookcase)

At first I HATED that they were CLEAR...

you could SEE the mess!
But, I have grown to 

LOVE them!

Instead of dumping out every tub to find what they are looking for, 

my kids can just scan & find the 1 tub they want!

Perfect for kids!

I prefer to call it an "Organized Mess"

I walked in our closet today & saw this...

and decided it was time to clear out some room for more clothes & put my husband's ties elsewhere, like on the blank side of the shelf, next to where they are currently hanging...

I ran and grabbed a "Coffee Mug Rack" that I had spray painted black, back when I made my Jewelry Hanger & hung it vertically..

and then hung up all of his ties...

And now he can easily find a tie every morning for work AND it cleared up room in our closet!
